The American Horse Council represents the interest of the horse industry in Washington. Cowboys for Christ brings the Good News of Jesus Christ to those in the Horse, Farm, Ranch, Rodeo and Horse Racing community. Our saddle club is open to all people, of all ages, who enjoy the horse! Riders as well as non-riders. We are mostly a trail riding club that just enjoys getting together for rides and cook-outs. We are located in the northeastern part of NC. Our club is family oriented with riders of all ages participating. Our young members can join our Hoofprints 4-H Club for various riding activities and experiences.
We sponsor one annual paying trail ride in the spring. Profits made from the ride are used for donations to the local volunteer fire department and rescue squad in Conway, NC. Young 4-H Hoofprint members who would like to attend 4-H horse camps are also sponsored.
The club meets once a month, every 3rd Thursday, 7:00 pm at the Golden Corral in Ahoskie, NC. Family membership dues are $25.00 per year. The club tries to plan several riding/camping trips to the mountains of NC and Va in the spring, summer and fall. Currently few of our members are into showing. Helping Horse provides physical therapy disguised as fun for people with disabilities in the Triangle area. We accept both children and adult riders with mental, physical, cognitive and learning disabilities. Riders receive strength and coordination therapy while also learning horsemanship skills. Volunteers lead horses and walk along side riders to provide physical and moral support. Classes are held in the evenings. North Carolina Thoroughbred Racing Action Committee (NCTRAC) A volunteer group working to bring horse racing back to North Carolina. We have drafted legislation and presented it to all members of the North Carolina legislature that would legalize Horse Racing for Charity in the state. The premise is that any track authorized within the state would have to be run by a non-profit corporation (not big business) - with any profits being returned to the state and local communities in the form of grants to other non-profits.
